Austin Texas City Guide

Over the 4th of July weekend I went down to Austin Texas to hang out with some of my best friends and explore the city. I had heard so many great things about Austin but had never visited so the long weekend made it the perfect destination for a quick trip. Some of my favorite things about the city were the outdoor bars, restaurants, crazy food trucks and various swimming holes around the city (went to Barton springs 3 time!!!). Between the outdoor space you get in a city that's not New York (love it, but sometimes you just gotta get out) and too many food trucks to count, I'll definitely be back again soon to explore (and eat) more! Below are a few of the coolest spots I checked out! Let me know where to go next time!

No particular order...

1. Mattie's

Modern American cuisine in an incredible 19th century home with peacocks on the property! The food is spot on and the ambience is beautiful! Truly feels like you're out of the city and on a farm in the middle of the country.

2. Figure 8 Coffee Purveyors

If you know me, you know I have to find a cute coffeeshop no matter what city I'm in! Figure 8 was my favorite! Obsessed with their "hidden" back garden! Their coffee was really great too! Perfect spot to chill and meet friends before starting your day!

3. Chicon

This spot is definitely under the radar! Me and my friend went in durning happy hour (they have an amazing happy hour, even on the weekends!!!!) for some cocktails and shared plates. $6 dollar old fashion's and margaritas? Sign me up! Make sure to get their charred avocado! Truly unreal!!

4. Lichas Cantina

Note: I just had drinks and chips here, but the food looked incredible too! Super fun ambience and a great spot to drink for a few hours outside with friends. The staff was super friendly and cool. Good vibes all around!

5. Launderette

Modern American eats in a gorgeous space. Launderette was an absolute favorite! The food was inventive without being too over the top. 10 out of 10 recommend! Get the burger with the secret sauce! ;)

6. Barton Springs

I was in Austin for 4 days. I went to Barton Springs 3 times. Need I say more? Basically heaven on earth. Pro tip: go down the river a little for a more secluded swim (FYI,  women can go topless).

7. Hotel San Jose

Hello, it's me... Living my best life at Hotel San Jose! One of my favorite spots I visited in Austin! Grab a cocktail, chill by the pool, what else do you need? They also serve food, although I didn't eat here so I can't speak to how good it is. If you're in Austin and don't get to this spot, I can 100% say you missed out!

8. Boiler Nine Bar + Grill

Boiler Nine was such a cool space! Loved the modern industrial vibes... The menu was creative and the drinks were strong! Recommend coming here for an early dinner before going out! My favorite things on the menu were the Berkshire pork ribs and the  grilled brisket!

9. Veracruz All Natural Food Truck

I'm still dreaming about this food truck. Holy s**t, the best breakfast tacos I have ever had in my life!!!! GO HERE! GET EVERYTHING! DON'T HOLD BACK! You can go to the gym later... Trust me on this one! ;)

10. Weather Up

This bar has 2 locations in NYC, but despite being a chain (it really isn't at all) I really was very impressed with all of the cocktails on the menu! The ambience was a nice mix of Brooklyn meets Austin. You can't really beat $7 cocktails for happy hour either!
